Choose a small strand of hair and burn it. If the hair is 100% human, it smells like a barbecue and the ashes can be twisted into powder; if not, it smells like plastic and the ashes will stay as a caking.
That is very obvious: with the same style and length, Human hair wigs are much more expensive than synthetic ones. Therefore, If your human hair wig is relatively cheap, you may need to consider whether it's blended with synthetic fiber or the hair that collected to make this wig is not of a healthy quality.
Use a flat iron to heat the hair. If the hair can be heated at 220 degrees without a paste, it is real human hair. Well, a small strand of hair is enough for the test.
Perhaps you are suffering from thinning hair or anticipating major hair loss from chemo. Selecting a perfect hair product can be very confusing and time-consuming for the first-time buyer. The question is whether you should opt for a full wig or a hair topper?
Whereas a wig provides total head coverage, hair toppers provide coverage for one targeted area. Hair toppers clip into the existing hair, while wigs are work with a wig cap or overtop a grip. Both wigs and hair toppers can be made with synthetic or human hair, and both are available in a variety of colors and styles.
Toppers and extensions are a great way to add some “umph” to your hair if you’re just starting to experience hair loss. Even better, they’re easy to use, too.
Hair extensions are ideal for people experiencing overall hair loss, rather than hair loss in several specific areas. Extensions attach underneath a top layer of hair, adding all-around volume.
Sometimes called “half wigs” or “top pieces,” toppers are hair pieces that sit on top of your head and blend in with the natural hair below it. There are multiple sizes and styles of toppers, but there is generally only one type: a top piece that covers the part of your hair and sits on the top.
Synthetic hair is a man-made fiber. There are different types of synthetic hair fibers, such as acrylic, polyester, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and Kanekalon. Lower quality fibers are shinier in appearance and tend to be less realistic in texture and movement.
Just as the name implied, heat-friendly or heat-resistant fiber can be styled using a low/medium heat setting and can be curled, blow dried, or flat ironed to achieve a different hairstyle. Heat friendly/resistant synthetic fiber can withstand heat up to 350°F/180°C. Synthetic hair should not be colored.
Light and soft with natural body and luster, Kanekalon is the highest quality of synthetic fibers available. All our Kanekalon synthetic wigs and hair pieces offer styles with soft, light, natural-looking hair with gorgeous body and vibrant, resilient color. For kanekalon fiber wigs, you should try to avoid all heat sources while wearing your wig. Heat will damage the synthetic fibers of the wig as they will become singed and partially melted.
All our human hair wigs, hairpieces, and hair extensions are made from 100% human hair. Human hair has more versatility when it comes to styling, as it can be styled in various ways, just like your own hair, and will maintain the most natural look.
Virgin hair has been defined as hair that has never been chemically processed in any way, making the hair far more superior to Remy hair. A set of virgin hair must come from a single donor and all follow the same direction with an intact cuticle which means it is completely natural, healthy and beautiful.
Remy hair is of the high quality and comes from a single donor, which ensures consistency in texture. Also, the hair cuticles are intact, in one direction and consists of cuts which are the same length. Remy hair is the most popular hair on the market with high quality and reasonable price.
A Hair Topper, also called a "wiglet" or "hair enhancer", is a natural-looking hair piece that you can clip or secure on your head to blend in with your own hair. Toppers are good for coverage on one targeted area of the head. They are smaller and lighter than wigs and you don't have to wear a wig cap or hide your existing hair when you wear them. A Hair Topper can be an easy & perfect solution for ladies suffering from hair loss or thinning hair. Hair Toppers will add volume and coverage at the top of the head where hair extensions can't reach!
Hair Toppers come in different base types, shapes and sizes, which are designed to disguise hair loss or thinning hair at various stages and different areas of the scalp. Some of them can offer more coverage over the crown or top area, while others may help conceal the hair loss in the front.

I purchased my first human hair silk topper and absolutely love it! This is the Bella in 12". I like it much better being parted with the side bang look rather then the straight part that I was kind of hoping for. I as well had the issue where it didn't lay flat on my head but when I parted it off to the side it then gives it that volumized look. Other then that just added some curls and that was it.
"I've been wearing helper hair for a little over a year now and, as a result, my hair feels healthier than it has in years! My stylist noticed and we think it's because I'm washing less often and no longer heat styling my bio hair. :) Don't get me wrong, it's still thin as ever, but I'm now wearing my hair longer than I used to because it's healthier. I was recently ordering another topper (I know, I know...I gotta stop at some point...just not yet!)"
"Between the ER and the firehouse, my hair is always pulled back so no one really knows how horrible it truly is. But with my husband's work Holiday Party coming up, I wanted to look like a girl. So, I took my second Claire Remy to my stylist (magician) who cut her into this gorgeous bob. I sent a snap to my husband who told me (for the first time in our relationship) that I looked "amazing"! No words can describe how pretty I feel — and how grateful."
"Obviously right out of the box, HOPE TOPPER in Almond Frost. This Uniwig, synthetic topper looks and feels better, or at least as good as ANY human Hair Topper I've worn over the past 15 years! She needs a little trim but she's FABULOUS!"
Choosing the proper topper base size is not only going to make your hair piece look more natural, but also ensure that you are not pulling on hair causing further hair loss. The base size depends on your coverage needs.
First, you should measure the size of the area on your head you want to cover.
Then you can choose a topper on our website with the base of a little bit larger size. Be sure to factor in clip attachments on base. There must be a sufficient amount of hair to attach clip to. Adhesive is a secondary option.
If you're wearing a hair topper as a daily protective style, you want your piece to look as natural as possible. But most people don't have a celebrity stylist on call to create a flawless fit.
Here are some tricks to make your fake hair look as authentic as possible
Toppers with lace front means there is a pieces of lace allocating in the front of the topper. The lace is the secret weapon to a flawless undetectable hairline. When worn properly the end result is an undetectable hairline giving the illusion that the hair is actually growing out of your own head. When you get a topper with lace, you need to cut the extra lace before you put it on.
Here is a video as a reference to how to cut lace.
Hair density refers to how thick the hair is. The hair density that you order is really based on personal choice and what looks best on you. Most women achieve a natural appearance with light to medium or medium density; however your choice will depend on your styling preferences and individual profile.
It is very crucial to know the density of your naturally growing hair in order to effectively choose a hair system flawlessly matching your own one.
Age is another crucial factor helping you to choose the correct hair density. To be more specific; say you are a young man then thicker (medium) type of hair density will suit you more than an old man who will look better in lighter hair density.
Hair styles contribute in giving your hair a natural and real look. Thick pattern of hair shall suit better to a layered hair style. One can go for adding bouncy curls to a thin hair density to make it look fuller and thicker
Each topper, be that human hair or synthetic, should be well taken care.
Here is a guide to how to wash and condition a hair topper!
You may notice that your alternative hair piece, be that a wig or a topper, has shorter hair that may look like breakage. In most cases, this is not breakage and your wig is absolutely healthy. What you are seeing is something that is called a "hair return". Watch this video from our education experts to learn what a return is.
We do not recommend this. It can put too much stress on the hair and create unmanageable tangles. Also, pool chemicals and salt can damage the hair and affect color.
A wig is a head covering made from human hair or synthetic fiber. People wear wigs to cover hair loss or baldness or change their hairstyle and color. Obviously, human hair wigs are wigs made from real human hair. They will give you the most natural feeling compared to the synthetic wigs.
Choose a small strand of hair and burn it. If the hair is 100% human, it smells like a barbecue and the ashes can be twisted into powder; if not, it smells like plastic and the ashes will stay as a caking.

Measuring your head size is very important to do prior to ordering a wig. Here are the 5 measurements you will need to make.
In UniWigs, the Lace cap, Mono top (Hand-tied) Cap, Silk top cap are average sized with Circumference 22.5".
So, how many cap constructions does UniWigs offer? And what are the differences between them? How do you choose? Well let’s explain this!
The wig cap constructions we offer are the lace front cap, full lace cap, glueless full lace cap, monofilament cap, and the silk top cap.
Lace Front Wig cap construction is very natural-looking, creating an invisible hairline and giving the illusion of hair growing right out of your scalp. Lace Front Caps have lace in the front and traditional wefts in the back. In the front lace area, you can part your hair freely. For the weft area, we also add an elastic net inside of the cap which makes the wig comfortable and durable. Our lace front wig has clips and combs pre-sewn into the cap and an adjustable strap in the back which can be tightened an inch. The lace, after all, is delicate, so be careful not to pull or stretch it out.
For Mono Top Wigs, the top portion of the cap is made from a very fine, sheer material called monofilament. Monofilament wigs have been known as the best wig for cancer patients as it is a perfect combination of style and comfort. A monofilament wig creates the illusion of natural hair growth and offers you natural hair movement.
Full Lace Wigs are 100% hand-tied human hair wigs. Each hair is hand-tied onto a mesh base to create the most natural hair growth and provide a super soft fit. With a full lace wig, wherever you part your hair, you will have the natural appearance of scalp. A full lace wig imitates most successfully the natural movement of real hair and can be worn in a variety of styles such as a high ponytail or updo. A full lace wig takes 40 hours of work to make, so they are pricier. However, it is a worthy investment considering its unique features.
Glueless lace wigs don’t need to be secured using glue. Glueless lace wigs are 100% hand tied and have all the benefits of a full lace wig. A glueless lace wig has combs and clips already sewn into the cap, as well as an adjustable strap at the back which can be tightened by an inch. For beginners, a glueless lace wig is recommended.
Our luxurious silk top wigs offer a life-like skin toned base that resembles a real scalp, as well as maintaining all the benefits of a lace and mono cap construction. Using a tri-layer system, when the hair is knotted, the knots are made below the silk concealed between the layers, the hair is then injected through the silk material making the knots 100% invisible, giving the illusion that the hair is actually growing out of your scalp.
Please check the video of all cap constructions.
It is strongly recommended to try on the wig first to make sure it will look good on you before cutting the lace. Once the lace is cut the wig will not be eligible for return.
For lace front wigs, the front lace should be cut to make the hairline look natural.
To cut the lace, pull down the lace gently and using scissors, cut the extra lace carefully and a little at a time. Treat it as your own hairline which is not perfectly straight but natural. Cut slowly, so you can see if you are cutting it in the right way.
Probably the most important thing of wearing a wig is to make it look just like your own hair. Then a natural hairline is the first thing to do. Please check the following videos and see how to make a natural hairline.
A natural parting line is a necessary for a natural human hair wig. Most of the human hair wigs available at UniWigs are lace front with free part, which means you could part it anywhere you want. Please check the following video and learn how to make a natural hair parting.
The biggest strength of a human hair wig is that you can restyle the hair just like your own hair. So you can straighten or curl the wig to make it blend much better with your hair or just to look different. Please check the following videos to see how to straighten or curl the hair.
Synthetic wigs are created from man-made fibers that imitate the look and feel of real hair.
Synthetic wigs have technologically advanced hair fibers, so they are very manageable to look after. They hold their look and don’t need to be styled.
We offer a huge variety of synthetic wigs in our trendy synthetic wigs collection, including a large selection of lengths, colors and styles to suit everybody.
Using a wig cap is the most popular way to secure a wig. You can do it whether you have hair or not. It can prevent your wig from moving and hold your own hair in place. What’s better is that wig caps can keep your wig clean.
An adjustable wig band can secure your wig easily. They are made from soft material and are very comfortable to wear. When wearing the band, you don’t have to worry about the wig slipping or moving. The band is also gentle on hair loss and may prevent headaches caused by wearing wigs.
All synthetic wigs from UniWigs have combs inside so that you can secure the cap easily to your own hair. They are also available for purchase on their own or in a dozen pack.
Double-sided tape is perfect to use where you have no hair, for instance in front of your hairline. If you feel the wig is moving, you can use double-sided tape to tape it down. What’s best is that you can cut the tape to the amount you want.
Glue is also a popular way to secure wigs. If you search wig tutorials on YouTube, you will find many women glue down their wigs, especially for those who want to wear wigs for a long time.
If you like the thickness of the wig’s hair parting, you can just leave it as it is. However, it will look more natural and less “wiggy” if you pluck off some hair in the parting and hairline. We have videos on our YouTube Channel ‘UniWigs’ for how to do this correctly.
You should tie your hair back or keep it out of the way before you apply the wig cap. A good way is to tie your hair into two braids, and then pin them to the back of your head so your head is flat. Then put on your wig cap, and tuck all your hair in and leave no strands out. You have four combs in the cap: one on the top, two on the side and one on the bottom.
You need to throw the wig over your head and apply the wig from the top and then the bottom. After the wig is on, secure it by pushing the combs in. Then, brush through the hair, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Never brush from top to bottom because if you do that, you will comb all the knots down and create a mess.
Many synthetic wigs are shinier then human hair wigs, which can give it away that it is a wig. But it is easily solved! Just use a dry shampoo and spray it all over the synthetic wig. You can also use translucent powder (like baby powder or talcum powder) and massage it into your wig. This will help to mattify it and give it more of a natural feel.
Put your wig on a mannequin head. Then clip or tie the hair back so the lace will be easier to cut.
Use a pair of scissors to cut the front lace off little pieces at a time. It is easier to cut section by section.
When cutting the lace, make sure you cut as close as possible to the hairline. You don't want to cut too close where you know you're cutting off the baby hair. If you're a beginner, you might want to cut it a little bit further away from the hairline in case you make any mistakes; you can always go back and fix it.
Take clear photos of your own hairline to use as a guide for how you should make the wigs hairline. The best way to do this is to pull your hair back into a tight ponytail and take photos of your hairline.
Put your wig on a mannequin head and secure it. Create a thin hair parting according to the photo. Don't make the parting too wide because you don't want to lose too much hair.
Carefully pluck the hairline and hair parting using your photos as a guide. You want it to look natural.
Now you have the outline of your hairline. It's time to create a gradual density look. First section out the hair strand by strand. Then start plucking out some hair. Be careful with the plucking, as this hair can’t grow back!
Generally, synthetic fiber cannot be curled or heated. However, UniWigs synthetic wigs are made with a heat-friendly fiber, meaning the hair can be styled using a very low heat setting (80-130 Fahrenheit) and can be curled, blow dried, or flat ironed to achieve a different hairstyle.
Lace front wigs have lace in the front of the wig cap, and another material such as wefts at the back of the cap. Lace front wigs are hugely popular because they give a very natural-looking hairline. Lace front wigs have had the hair hand-tied to the front of the cap meaning the hair moves naturally and you can make the hair parting anywhere along the lace.
For synthetic wigs that are not too tangled, you can work your way up the hair with your fingers, gently detangling the knots. After this, gently comb through with a wide tooth comb.
To detangle very tangled and frizzy wigs, use a steamer. For extra smoothness you can spray hair moisture such as a leave-in conditioner or a detangling spray to help separate the knots. After this, the synthetic wig will look like new.
You can find adjustable straps on the back of all UniWigs synthetic wigs. They can be used to adjust the wig cap to your head size if it feels too loose or too tight.
Don’t apply any product to the hair when you first start wearing it for the first two or three weeks at least. Water is your best friend.
You can use any inexpensive conditioner. Don’t shampoo the synthetic wigs because the shampoo will dry the hair out. You can just stick to the conditioner. If you wear your synthetic wigs every day, you can do it every two or three weeks.
Get a special wig spray and once your hair does get old, you can spray onto the ends of the hair to add hydration. What you need to do is take care of the ends of the hair like you would do to your own hair.
You need to lightly brush them or comb through them. Brushing gently will help to avoid too shedding and getting frizzy ends.
Sleeping in your wig is a sure way to tear it up and make it look raggedy.
Brush through the wig and start from the bottom working your way up. Do not use a paper towel holder to hold up the wig.
Really hot or really cold water will dry your wig out. Add a small amount of shampoo and conditioner into the water.
After washing your wigs, hang them up because you want the water to drip down. Leave the hair to dry overnight or all day.
UniWigs Hair Extension Collection includes Classic Clip-ins, Invisible Clip-ins, Halo 2-in-1 and Tape-ins. Our extensions vary from Virgin Remy Human Hair, Remy Human Hair to Synthetic Fiber Hair. Extensions are the easiest, fastest, and safest way to get long, thick hair in just a snap!
Here we have laid out the features of each of our four types of extensions, to help you make your perfect choice!
Clip-In hair extensions are a simple do-it-yourself technique that can be easily applied. You can simply clip the wefts into your hair all by yourself without any hassle.
The hand-stitched fabric base adds slightly more volume than a regular weft base to your hair to achieve a voluminous hair look.
Silicone wefts with light clips lay completely flat against the head, meaning the hair all smooths and blends together evenly, achieving a natural glamourous look.
Halo Extensions have both clips and a wire, which is a new alternative to the classic clip in extensions. The wire helps to comfortably secure and relieve scalp tension. Halo Extensions are a perfect choice for people who have finer or thin hair.
A Tape-in sample hair with one double sides tape for an exact color match or it could be a perfect way to enhance and highlight your hair color.
Choosing the best hair extensions can be overwhelming, but it is important that you choose one that is best suited for you. This depends on several factors, including your hair type, lifestyle, and budget.
The lifespan of hair extensions depends on the hair quality you choose, how well you take care of them, and how often you wear them. With proper care and regular wear, Human Hair Extensions can last from a year or more; Synthetic-fiber Extensions can last from 4 to 6 months
Hair extensions will not damage your hair. Clip-in Hair Extensions are lightly clipped into your hair like any other regular hair clips so they will not cause any damage to your hair. We highly recommend that you go for Halo 2-in-1 extensions if you have fine thin hair because the wire will help to comfortably secure the extensions and relieve scalp tension.
