When applying for clip-in hair extensions, there's no commitment as there are so many different types of hair extensions that can be used to give your hair volume. If you are ready to apply your 10-piece hair extension set, follow these steps (Pssst! We also have a blog for how to apply a 7-piece hair extension set).
10 pieces include:
1 piece: 8" (4 clips)
1 piece: 7" (4 clips)
2 pieces: 6" (3 clips)
2 pieces: 4" (2 clips)
4 pieces: 1.5" (1 clip)
Step 1: Brush through your hair
Use a soft brush to brush your own hair thoroughly and remove any tangles. Then, brush out your hair extensions.
Step 2: Get your 2-clip weft ready
Separate a section of hair at the nape of your neck with a comb, and twist or braid the rest of the bottom of your hair with a hair tie. Brush through the extension and then clip the 2-clip weft into the roots of your hair.
Step 3: Get your second 2-clip weft ready
Separate a section of hair 0.5 inches above the weft you just clipped in. Tease the roots of your hair if you have thin or fine hair. Brush and then clip the other 2-clip weft into the roots of your hair.
Step 4: Get your 3-clip weft ready
Separate a section of hair 0.5 inches above the last weft you just clipped in. Brush and clip the 3-clip weft into the roots of your hair. This weft should be aligned with your ears.
Step 5: Get your 3-clip weft ready
Separate a section of hair 0.5 inches above the 3-clip weft you just clipped in.
There are two ways to attach the left 3-clip weft.
Way 1: Stack and clip the two 3-clip wefts together, then comb them and clip them as one into the roots of your hair.
Way 2: Apply them one by one.
Step 6: Get your smaller 4-clip weft ready
Separate a section of hair around 1 inch above the weft you just clipped in. The location should be about the same height as your ears. Take the smaller 4-clip weft (7”) and brush it. Gently tease the roots of your hair with a comb to create an area that the weft can be easily clipped.
Now clip the weft into your roots starting with the clips in the middle and following with the side clips. Align the weft, and make sure it clips in the middle. Stretch it as you clip it in, to make sure there are no bumps.
Step 7: Get your bigger 4-clip weft ready
Separate an inch above the last weft you clipped in and clip the rest of the hair. This weft should be aligned about the top of your ears. Take the big 4-clip weft (8”) and brush it. Measure it against your head to make sure it fits well before you clip it in. Clip the middle two clips, and then clip in the two side clips.
Step 8: Get your 1-clip wefts ready
These wefts go in the sides of your hair. These wefts are good for adding volume at the sides, face-framing, and ensuring a seamless blend.
Start by brushing out your 1-clip wefts. Separate a section of hair about 2 inches above your ears at the sides. Then take the single pieces and secure the clips into the roots of your hair.
Repeat for the other side.
Now you have applied the 10 pieces clip in the hair extension set! Have fun styling your hair and adding curls (optional!).
