Hair Topper SOS: Rescue Tips for Newbies

June 27, 2024 Views: 525

Have you ever wondered why your hair topper doesn’t look like the one on the product page or in the videos on social media? Have you ever received a topper and thought: The hair is pretty good, but it looks so fake! Have you panicked when you washed your first human hair topper and the hair just didn’t look the same?

UniWigs has been focused on alternative hair for more than a decade. Many customers choose their first hair topper from us, and we help them with this new experience. Today, we’re going to address some of the most common questions that beginners may encounter.

Why My Topper Looks So Fake?

Hey, we’ve all had bad hair days, right? Well, your hair topper can have them too. After chilling in the warehouse and enduring a postal adventure that involves more squishing and shaking than a roller coaster ride, it might not be looking its perkiest when it finally lands in your hands.
You might notice it’s a bit flat, with a parting line that’s as straight as if it has been under a baseball cap for hours. Not to worry! A quick fix is just a spritz away: give it a light mist of water and blow dry it while you gently comb the hair backward. Voilà! Roots lifted, hair looking fresh, and volume restored.

I Washed My Hair And Now It’s A Mess!

This usually happens on blonde toppers or brown toppers with blonde highlights. Even though it’s 100% human hair, our hair toppers have been through a bit of a wild ride with all the chemical toning and bleaching – they’ve seen more than a few salons! Unlike our own ‘bio hair’ that gets its daily nutrition straight from us, topper hair needs a little extra TLC.

Pro tip: Before washing, be gentle! Detangle like you’re untangling a phone cord from the ‘90s – with patience and care. When it’s bath time for your topper, think ‘gentle spa session’ rather than ‘wild scrub-a-dub.’ Wash with a downward flow – no hair wrestling, please! Remember, this is a ‘treat it like royalty’ situation. Rubs are for your back, not for your topper’s locks!

I Can’t Change the Parting of My Free-Parting Topper!

change part ba

Trust me, changing the parting of a free-parting topper is much easier than changing our stubborn parting. There are several ways to change the parting at home. If you have a wig stand or mannequin, all you need is a curling iron:

What? You don’t have those tools? Well, then just do it on your head!

change the part

  • Use a water spray to dampen the top section of the roots.
  • Brush the hair forward and break up the part.
  • Flip it back off the face and begin blow-drying from the roots.
  • You can move your hair in different directions, but always direct it up and away from the face.
  • Continue until it’s fully dry.
  • Voilà!

Hope this blog helps! All these styling and care tips have one crucial prerequisite: ensuring you have a high-quality human hair topper. If the topper isn’t well-made, none of the above tips will make a difference. At UniWigs, we offer top-notch human hair toppers that are high quality and beautifully priced. Find your perfect topper and transform your hairstyle in an instant!
